Filipino-Chinese Organizations Donate Php 100M Worth of Medical Supplies to DOH for COVID-19

The past few days were met with major news updates about the Corona virus disease spreading globally as the World Health Organization (WHO) categorized it as a ‘pandemic‘. Last night, Philippine President Duterte declared Metro Manila under ‘Community Quarantine‘ in efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19.

In a quick reaction to the situation, members of the Filipino-Chinese community, led by Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FFCCCII), proactively donated 100 Million pesos worth of medical supplies to the countrys’ Department of Health (DOH) for COVID-19 containment.

The donation shall come in form of testing kits, face masks, medical equipments, and more to be specified soon in coordination with the needs of the DOH.

“To support the Philippine government’s prevention and control efforts against Covid-19, we are today donating P100 Million Pesos worth of medical supplies to help the Department of Health with testing kits and other paraphernalia. Through this, we hope to help our hardworking and noble health authorities and health personnel ensure that our people in the Philippines will get access to fast screening and good health care,” shares FFCCCII Pres. Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong.

FFCCCII said that they are supporting the conscientious and earnest efforts of the government to prevent further transmission of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

Moreover, “Our Filipino Chinese community, especially the FFCCCII, is coordinating with the Chinese Embassy through His Excellency Ambassador Huang Xilian for the Philippines’ traditional ally and ancient trade partner China to send us additional emergency medical supplies as well as their topnotch medical doctors and personnel who are experts in handling Covid-19 to be able to come over here to augment our own Filipino medical doctors and personnel,” adds Dr. Lim
