World Poetry Day Celebrated at Kamuning Bakery Café’s Pandesal Forum

UNESCO’s annual World Poetry Day is again being celebrated on March 20 by 82-year-old Kamuning Bakery Café at its tertulia-inspired and non-partisan “Pandesal Forum” with media and intellectuals.

Special guest speakers to recite poems are Singapore Ambassador Gerard Ho Wei Hong and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary for Asia Pacific Affairs and poet Neal Imperial. Aside from poetry, the guest panelists shall also discuss trends in Asean and Asia.

Due to the global pandemic, this Pandesal Forum shall be via Zoom and instead of March 21 which is Sunday, World Poetry Day is being celebrated a day earlier on March 20 Saturday 3 pm. Pandesal Forum is a civic and cultural project of Kamuning Bakery Café, where leaders and newsmakers dialogue with media and intellectuals. Last year on March 7, a week before the Luzon-wide lockdown, Pandesal Forum hosted a poetry and music event at Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City in honor of award-winning poet and veteran journalist Jose “Pete” Lacaba which was attended by National Artists Dr. Bienvenido Lumbera and BenCab; singers Noel Cabangon, Cooky Chua, U.P. Chancellor Dr. Fidel Nemenzo; poets Dr. Gemino Abad, Prof. Vim Nadera, Prof. Danton Remoto, Prof. Michael Coroza, others.
