Thanks to Creazion Studios, we got to attend the “Backrooms” movie premiere night in the Philippines the other day.
And indeed, this sci-fi horror film creeped everyone in the movie theater. Without spoilers, I think the best basic element director Kane Parsons utilized in this project is its timing element resulting in just-in-time shocks and jolts. Story-wise, the flexibility of the concept led to its ‘unpredictability‘ which left moviegoers on the edge, in a pleasantly horrifying state.

Add to that the uncomplicated symbolism of the ‘door’ line, and the eerie minimalist off-white walls which you clueless about what to anticipate next.
The move setting was further enhanced by the contrasting acting prowess of the two main leads – Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve. While Ejiofor‘s occasional unassuming facial expressions was good for the story, the latter’s a acting could have explored more flavors.
If you haven’t seen the internet horror series, then ‘Backrooms‘ will be unique in a way that it’s not your usual horror movie – a breath of fresh air you’d want to catch with your group of friends on the big screen.

Backrooms 2 Potential
After dominating the global box office and becoming the No. 1 movie in the world, BACKROOMS arrives in Philippine cinemas beginning tomorrow – June 3. But unlike most major Hollywood releases, the horror phenomenon will only be shown in a limited number of cinemas nationwide, making every screening one of the most sought-after movie events of the season.
The film shattered expectations during its opening weekend, earning US$118 million worldwide and claiming the No. 1 spot at the global box office. It also delivered the biggest opening weekend in A24 history, the largest debut ever for an original horror film, and the biggest launch ever for a first-time filmmaker.
CreaZion Studios, A24’s official partner for ‘Backrooms’ in the Philippines announces that Filipino audiences will finally get the chance to experience the movie that has captivated audiences around the world — if they can find a screening near them.
With only select cinemas carrying the film, horror fans are encouraged to secure tickets early and plan their viewing with friends before screenings sell out.

More than a movie, BACKROOMS has become a cultural phenomenon. Born from the viral internet horror series that amassed hundreds of millions of views worldwide, the film transforms the unsettling mythology of endless yellow hallways and impossible spaces into a terrifying cinematic experience that audiences have been discussing, dissecting, and daring each other to watch.
And if there is one piece of advice from viewers around the world, it is simple: Don’t you dare go in alone.
BACKROOMS is the kind of movie best experienced with friends — the kind that leaves audiences screaming, grabbing the armrest, and debating theories long after the credits roll.

Whether you’re a horror fanatic, a thrill-seeker, or simply curious about the film everyone is talking about, BACKROOMS is an experience designed to be shared.
Because once you enter the Backrooms, you’ll want someone beside you. BACKROOMS opens in select Philippine cinemas beginning June 3. Don’t hold your screams, it’s not good for your health.
